Classroom parties are planned by the teacher, a parent, a collaboration between teacher and parents, or the students with help from the teacher. The first step to planning a classroom party is to create a theme. This will lead the way to the decorations, food, and games and activities to have at the party, as well as managing a party.
Classroom Party Themes
Choosing a theme could be based upon the season, holidays, or what the children are learning in class. If you choose a theme based on season, a party in October could be a Fall Festival or a party in December could be a Winter Party. If you choose a theme using the holidays surrounding the time of the party, a December party embraces Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, and others to celebrate diversity, while a February party celebrates Valentine's Day and Chinese New Year.
Incorporating lessons from the classroom is another way to center a theme for the party. Themes from Reading may be an Author party (Roald Dahl, Dr. Seuss) or a Fantasy party (Harry Potter, Percy Jackson). Themes from Social Studies may include a party about your state, Native American History, Colonial Days, Spanish Exploration, or Cultural Studies from Around the World. And themes from Science may be Ooey, Gooey Science; Inventions; Space; or Volcanoes and Natural Disasters.
